Why Clay in Shave Soap?

Clay is added for an added slickness to the lather. Helps whisk away impurities. We offer both clay and clayless shave pucks.

 As some have reservations.

Both of our selections are well behaved and good preforming for lather, slip, and rinse.

We lightly scent our pukes. We do not use palm oil or waxes in our soaps this includes shave soaps.

What Do Oils Do?

Many people think and believe that soap is soap. But its the ingredients that are making that soap that make it even better. But at the end of the day after the soap is cured, none of these are left and we end up with a bar of soap. Lye and the fats join in a magic of scientific wonder. Leaving our skin clean and feeling great.

Coconut oils- Makes it rich and bubbly.

Palm oil- makes a creamy hard bar,

Caster oil- is good for lather and creaminess.

Sunflower oil - Condition and lather.

Olive oil is a great conditioner for the skin.

Lard and Tallow- nice firm hard bar and fabulous lather.

Butters and other additives are a blog for another time.

Wet shaving lather trouble shooting

As a classic soap puck this is best used with a mug and skuttle.

Most commercial shave pucks are 1 to 2 oz. These are a dense 4oz. Most body bars of soap are 4oz.

These will fit in any 2inch diameter cup or scuttle.

Ways to use this is lightly wet the brush or give it a good soak for about 5 min. A good soaked brush will create a load of lather.

The other is to fully wet the brush and add water to the mug. Swirl until plenty of lather is available. Onceyouve got a good start take a second bowl. With about 1 -2 tsp of water. Swirl to build lather.not enough lather add a tiny bit more water. Easier to add then take away. Too much water and the lather will slide off your brush.

Or wet your face or shaving area rub soap puck on you.

This will also help lather it. Then use shave brush to desired lather is achieved.

Once shaving is completed. Rinse off place in cup and let air dry. Do not let it sit in the wet mug with water.

If 'blooming' your soap puck. Only do so when plenty of time is available to do do. A good shave is pleasant and soothing to have.

Finish with a warmed damp cloth if desired.

External use only.

Having trouble?

I’m not creating any lather in the bowl: Add more water. This will allow the soap to lather to reach its full potential. Be careful not to add too much water or else you’ll run into our next problem...

My lather won’t stay on my brush: Too much water. You want the lather to be thick and not soupy. If this happens add more soap to even out the lather.

I’ve created a lather, but its hard to apply to my face: Add a small amount of water. This will loosen up the lather and make it easier to apply.
